American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)
Purpose
To nurture building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional native values. Through its educational programs, AISES provides opportunities for American Indians and Alaska Natives to pursue studies in science, engineering, business and other academic arenas. The trained professionals then become technologically informed leaders within the Indian community. AISES’ ultimate goal is to be a catalyst for the advancement of American Indians as they seek to become self-reliant and self-determined members of society.

Danielle Shirley Ya’at’eeh shi ei Danielle Shirley yinishye. Bit'ahnii nishli, Tewa Dine bashishchiin, Ta'neeszahnii da shi cheii, Ma'ii deeshgiizhinii da shi nali. I grew up on McCracken Mesa in Southern Utah on the Navajo Nation. I transferred here to Salt Lake City my senior year, and graduated from Jordan High. I am currently a second year undergraduate student here at the University. I am working to become a Physician, and I would like to travel back to my reservation to help my people once I'm done. AISES is a great opportunity to become more involved with the engineering and sciences, so don't be shy, AISES welcomes you.

Stanford Klain Ya'at'eeh! I am a Navajo from Shonto, Arizona. Upon graduating from highschool I attended Dixie State College and then transferred to Salt Lake Community College where I received my Associate's Degree in Social Work in 2010. I am currently a transfer student at the University of Utah where I am in the process of applying to the Bachelor of Social Work program. Upon graduating I hope to work with American Indian youth to help shape our new generation of American Indian leaders.

Orianna Dennison Ya’at’eeh! My name is Orianna Dennison. I am of the Dine tribe from Tohatchi, New Mexico; however, I grew up in Elko, Nevada. I have lived there my whole life but every chance my family got, we traveled back home. I am currently a freshman at the University of Utah studying to become a nurse with a specialty in anesthesiology. I love doing anything outdoors from hiking, camping, snowboarding, and most of all playing a game of soccer. I enjoy music, movies, hanging out with friends, and spending time with my family. AISES welcomes all new members and we hope to see you at our next meeting.
